Puppy Love

“Again! You just had to do it again. How many times have i told you, shouted at you. Oh, what’s the use of it all? You do it merely to annoy me.”
He was sitting across from her, in his favourite armchair. Hers. Before he usurped it. And now he reigned from it. Over her. “I love you so. And you know it. And you always, always try your damnedest to use that fact as an apology when you know i have caught you.” Her face softened as she realised just how much she loved him. “But this does it. This is the last time, i positively warn you. I can’t keep at it much longer. I fought everyone when they tried to dissuade me. I still took your side, fought for you, by you. Gave you another chance. And now i am tired. Tired of trying to change your ways. Tired of explaining to everyone why you behave like this. Damn it, i am tired of making up excuses for you, of defending you. You are ..” She was cut off in mid-sentence by the phone ringing. He looked a bit hopeful at the thought of a reprieve, and made to get up from the chair; only to sit down again as she continued “Oh no, i am not done with you yet. Where do you think you are going? For another walk outside? I know what your walks amount to…Hullo?” She listened distractedly to her sympathetic friend on the other side “Oh, it’s him again, is it? Having another of your tiffs? I can hear the talking-to you are giving him, though, he might be deaf for all the effect it has on him. Looks like it’s not a good time to talk with you. I will come by in the evening. Cheer up love, it’s not as bad as it seems.”
She replaced the receiver and turned back, her anger at her friend for interfering between them redirecting itself at him again. “Yes Max, that was my friend. And she too thinks the same. I just ought to have turned away when i first saw you, but you turned your lovely brown eyes on me and i was gone. Like you are doing right now. It doesn’t change a thing Max, it doesn’t! You have been nothing but trouble from the day i saw you.” She paused to regain her breath. “But..but you have also brought some sense and order into the chaos that was my life. You have made it a little more meaningful for me.” A little note of despair crept into her voice, and she gave up entirely, sitting back in her chair and burying her face in her hands.

Seeming to know he was being pardoned, Max got up and went to her chair. She was done with her role, now he would enact his by soothing her, in the only way he knew. He wagged his tail comfortingly and licked away her salty tears. After all, his crime was no worse than purloining a few items which caught his fancy, from the neighbours’ houses!

I think starting a series would be a good idea. Nothing as grandiose as a novel though. Just plain sentences should do. So here’s the first (hope more will follow, and this won’t be the only one. It will put a sad end to my so-called series). Will try to give alternate definitions to words/phrases, striving for some light humour along the way (ofcourse, the humour may be totally as seen by me, so won’t guarantee universal happiness! )

Suggestions and additional definitions via comments are most welcome!

False cheeriness ~ The sun shining brightly out on a snow-laden scene, with the sky grey, overcast and sullen; threatening to spill more and more of that snow on to poor unsuspecting peoples’ heads.

Could also be given as an example of “lulling (someone) into a false sense of security”.

Soft as sifting sands. Cool to the touch as snow. With vibrant colours competing the very rainbow’s. Slightly fragrant -with its very unique smell- if cached for long. On the slightly heavier side. Very long..really, whole yards of it. Unwieldy and unmanageable, especially for first-timers. Cumbersome if you were unacquainted with it. But if you were; very very graceful. Sensuous in fact. Emitting a soothing swishing sound at times. Not at all floppy, no. You wouldn’t even want it that way! It would lose all identity and form if not for that little, necessary stiffness. Taken out and used sometimes only on those rarest of ocassions, then bedazzling many, creating a spell with its resplendent aura.

A delight to many- to behold, to own, to preen, to hoard. In the olden days, maybe even to barter. A simply superb specimen, resulting from the fusion of the work of humble nature and the skills of ingenious man.

Known otherwise as a silk saree. And a sight dearly missed by me these days.

The Ambush

He sat in the car. Waiting. Watching. He rested his head against the window, and watched as his breath fogged the pane. He lazily stretched out a finger and drew random shapes on the misted glass. Then, looking at what he’d drawn, he found it was not so random after all. He’d depicted what was going on in his mind. He allowed himself a small smile before rubbing the glass clean with a tissue.
She sure was taking a long time coming down tonight. He knew her schedule, and every activity well enough. After all, he’d watched her like a hawk for so long. He’d timed everything down to the perfect second, leaving no room at all for any nasty surpises to elbow their way in. Now he wished she wouldn’t make him wait too long. He was already feeling cramped sitting in, and wished to get out and stretch his legs. That would spoil the whole game though. If she saw him, or knew he was waiting…
He left the engine idling – not that he hoped to make a quick getaway soon after. If he knew her, it would be anything but quiet. There would be a scene, and he hated scenes. He was feeling idiotic enough, hunkering down as he was inside the car, scrunching himself down so people would not see him. He cursed himself for having this idea in the first place. He almost stretched out his hand towards the wheel for turning back, when the foyer door opened. And she stepped out. Damn! Why was she walking her dogs? They were an unecessary hindrance, and didn’t fit into the plan any which way. Plus there was no way they could fit into the car later. But it was too late for such thoughts. What had to be done, had to be done. The dogs would have to accomodate.
He slipped his hand inside his pocket, hoping against hope she would not scream when she saw what was in his hand. Opening the car door, he stepped out in front of her. She started. He put out his hand in front of her.
“Happy Birthday Sweetheart. Will you marry me?”

A Lil Happy, a lil Grumpy, sometimes Sleepy, slightly Bashful, hardly Dopey, barely Sneezy and not at all Doc. The dwarfs? No, that’s just me.

Am thinking, i should put this up as my ‘About Me’ on Orkut. To possibly scare away random people from peeking and poking too deep into my profile.

Hmm.
