All and sundry

I have the feeling i have kicked something real hard and sent it bounding out there. Sooner or later, it’s going to hit someone or something high up, and come back and whack me nicely. Gravity, Newton’s 3rd law et all – Rejoice.

 I hate it when people close themselves off and refuse to listen to anything other than what they want to hear. They shut themselves off, out of touch, truly unreachable to even the ones close to them. It frustrates everyone, themselves included, and is totally unnecessary. No, this is not totally pointless, but i refuse to say further.

Also, spring is back again. In the warmer temperatures, in little yellow flowers showing up in the green grass, in the longer days. I love it.

Saw people painting the arrow signs on the road today. They placed a mould over the arrow, and i presume, poured paint into it (this i presume ‘coz i moved ahead and missed seeing that part). Pretty fast i must say. Back home, people manually paint each divider and stripe over painstaking stripe on the crossings.

Y’know, watching the sky move in the rear windshield of the car in front feels funny. Kinda like watching a forward motion in reverse, or something of that sort.

And finally, the number of ‘girl’ songs ( i call them ‘bitchy’ songs) are increasing. ‘Irreplaceable’ and all. Go listen to ‘Maybe next time he thinks before he cheats’. i do like.

 

On an impulse

i knew there was a reason for my being an introvert and almost-loner. Peoples’ selfishness and insensitivity bugs me. a lot. i don’t think i will ever get used to it, not even by the time i am 80.
i obviously expect a utopian world!

In the land o’ Uncle Sam

this country with its contrasts. with its nasal twangs and strange vowels. with its freezing winters and sizzling summers. with its sporadic rains and heavy snows. with its elevators instead of lifts. with its sidewalks not footpaths. with its artificial smiles. with its omnipresent taco bells and soft drinks. with its evergreen malls. with its leafless fall, and flowerless spring. with its goodnight when its evening. with its coffee and cappuchino and frappuchino with no mention of tea. with its school buses and stop signs. with its varying speed limits and speeding tickets.with its immense self-importance and selfless charity drives. with its eight-hour weekdays and strictly no-work weekends. with its umpteen rules and regulations. with its 10 different variety of only potatoes. with its array of chain-stores, each a clone of the other. with its similar looking neighbourhoods, transplanted across cities and states. so you are often lost, and ironically, never lost. with a variety of organisations for the needy or poor, animals or others. with its voicemails and airtime minutes. with its food fascinations and weight-watching. with its car dependencies and people-less walks. with its beautiful christmas. with its pumped-up tourism and places to go. with its immigrants and locals. with its bewildering road network. with its long weekends and short workdays. with its paranoia about most things foreign. with its friendliness and reserve. with its expensive education and medicals. with its freedom, and past history of slavery. with its time meddling to save the daylight. with its under-patronised extensive, beautiful public library system. with its young money to splurge on everything and a day to celebrate every ocassion. or an ocassion to celebrate every day.

i dont know if i love it or hate it.

Searching for a title……

Haven’t posted in some time. And don’t feel like it either. There is a lack of lucid, coherent thoughts, and i don’t wish to force the scrambled tangle on unsuspecting readers. So while i take a break from writing (or has it already taken a break from me….?) i will fill the gaps with some previously written posts.
