In which the snows melted away.. (OR The mystery of the missing couch)

..due to the warmer weather, and so did the couch. You must believe me.

Our couch outlived its usefulness, and we decided it had to part ways with us. Due to the snow and cold weather, we moved it to the patio as the first stop before its final destination of the garbage dump. In time we forgot about it, ‘coz you see, blinds aren’t opened much during winter anyway. One month passed and the couch remained in situ, surrounded by little piles of snow. One fine day, i came home from work to find the room filled with light. Thought bubble went – Hurrah. The days are growing longer again. The snow is melting away. Yayayay.. Enter right – roommate. With a puzzled look – Did you ask anyone to move the couch when we weren’t home? The penny drops – Oh the couch is missing? That’s why there’s so much light!!!

No no, not the official types in which you have to answer hordes of questions. :D
This is purely personal. Me and my friends / roommates want to escape the bitter cold and snow and blizzards here ( :P ) and head somplace warmer in a February weekend. No, unfortunately, India is not even an option.
So, my dear readers, please contribute some ideas as to get-away places.

‘Ppreciate it! :D

P.S. I ought to have clarified i am looking for places in the U.S. Charming as exotic locations sound, they are undoable. :)

Nocturnal ramblings

Coming home from work at 2 a.m. sucks. Primarily because all vestiges of sleep have vanished by then, leaving you very wide awake. And since there are not many things you can do at 2 a.m., you end up thinking about things which you had shelved away in the recesses of your mind so as not to think about them. And you visit random sites like “weather.com”, which really sucks because, face it, what sane person would need to look at the weather when they just came in from the snow? And last but not the least, you end up writing stupid posts like these.

And so i have changed

January 5, 2008 alice-in-wonder 5 comments

I walked into a room, and sensed that the conversation lowered in volume and eventually stopped. I know it wasn’t about me, for i had overheard some of it. A year ago, i would have been saddened at the thought that my friends couldn’t say whatever they were saying in front of me, would have been angry that they didn’t consider me a confidante, and so on. I would have been on a roll, so to speak. And am i glad to realise that it hasn’t affected me at all today. So glad infact, that i decided to blog about it. :D

Another thing i realised -i keep using this word; note to self: look up thesaurus- is i had wished last year to be ‘more unselfconscious in what i do’ and so i am now. I am not fully there yet, but i am on my way. I sing/hum without a care, when i want to, knowing i am mostly off key, and that people around might be either looking for cotton ear buds or wishing that i restrict my diva moments for when i am in the shower.

Looks like the devil-may-care attitude may finally be setting in. :D
